Diversity in the Media

I watched CBC News Nova Scotia @ 5, newscast on 09/21/09 to look for diversity in their clips.
Out of all the reports, there were only 2 diverse people- there was one black child, and one french man. I was very surprised, and almost wished I would have watched CTV instead because they have a different news layout which I think would include more clips throughout the hour. CBC's news cast format is very odd, and full of the same report re-runs at least 3 times throughout the show which makes it very frusterating to watch. I prefer to watch CTV Atlantic because they show full reports and include the public more. Although CBC did not include many diverse clips from the public, they do have more diverse reporters then CTV.. a total of 3. Which gives them strength in some area I suppose.

Anyways, that's all for now..
In closing I will continue to watch CTV for the rest of the year.

Brynn ! :)

  1. A short post, but an informative one. However, I'd like you to analyze a half hour of the CTV Atlantic News just to see if they really do include more diverse populations in their stories.
Your comments on the new CBC format are interesting and I've heard the same remarks from others.
